FAT what to use ??

I want to install Ubuntu on a new Partitions on my HD, how should I formate my partitions, whit whitch FAT ??

Can I use NTFS or shall I use Linux Ext2, Linux Ext3 or Linux Swap2 ???

Please help me, I've never usede Linux before .

You can't use NTFS as a primary boot partition. It's strongly recommended to stay with Ubuntus default selection, which is Ext3 for the root partition and Swap for the Swap partition.

The ubuntu installer will take care of the selection. So just free up (delete) all partition which you don't need besides Ubuntu (means: all if Ubuntu is the only system) and the installer will do the partition by itself.
