windows sound problems

sometimes i get sound and sometimes i dont get sound in my laptop
case 1:when i start windows it starts with windows startup sound, but after that i am not able get sound in my laptop.
case 2:other case is when my laptop goes into sleep mode,i cant here sound in my laptop.

I'm not sure this is the best place to ask about Windows sound problems (since it's a forum for Ubuntu questions), but my guess is either your mixer settings are incorrect or you need to update your sound card's driver.

To make sure it is not a hardware problem, I recommend that you download and burn an Ubuntu LiveCD. If you hear sound correctly using Linux, it is definitely a software problem.

and while you are at it, install ubuntu. save you a lot of problems in the long run.
