conexant modem

Asked by kubo

I tried to use my Conexant HSFi modem with Dapper Drake.
In Device manager modem seems to be OK, but when I try to set up my connection it`s not there.
I tried those drivers from linuxant, which seems to be exactly what I need right now, but installation fails every time....
I know it`s probably fairly easy to solve this problem, but I`m a linux beginner, long time Microshit addict, so please help me... I spent all night trying to find out how to make it work and if I won`t manage to do it today,I`ll have to go back to Win98 :(

The drivers from Linuxant I believe are kernel-specific; did you get one appropriate for Dapper's kernel?

Okay, now I'm on Dapper and saw all this for myself. If you get the generic .deb (non-kernel-specific) and have build-essential as well as kernel source and headers installed, it will work just fine. Hope that helps! (You'll need updated source and headers if you change kernel subversions.)

Can you help with this problem?
