Apparmor failed

Asked by anilmani

I did a work around offered on a website to get better performance from video outputs and after that, I get a message during the boot process. The message reads : Loading AppArmor module: failed. How can I get this rectified.
Any suggestions welcome.

Can you describe the workaround that you did?

Hello Mr. Danna:

Please click on the link below:

I followed the steps mentioned exactly as it was mentioned.

Starting from:
The solution

As of April 24th, it is possible to overcome all of these issues if you
are willing to install some third-party packages. We are going to
install the latest testing kernel 2.6.30-rc2 from here ,
.....

to
....

Finally, reboot to the new 2.6.30-rc2 kernel, apply the MTRR fix (it’s
necessary to fix upon each restart of X), and do some testing!

I didnt do the MTRR fix, I guess, because I am not sure what it is.

The website also offfers a solution to revert back. but I do nto want to
do that, because I have a feeling that (no.. I am almost sure) that the
video playback has become much better. The buffering process has stopped
and video playback is not jerky now.

So basically I want to try this setting and get the apparmor back.
(However, I can boot with my earlier kernel without the apparmor
problem)

Long story short, I would like to keep the kernel 2.6.30-rc2 without
the apparmor failure.

Regards

Anil

I should preface this statement with the fact that I am far from an expert on kernel modules or apparmor.

I don't think apparmor is going to work with what you have done. Ubuntu applies apparmor patches to the kernel that allows apparmor to work. The kernel you tried was the mainline kernel, which, from what I understand, is a completely unpatched kernel straight from the official kernel tree.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask anilmani for more information if necessary.
