Side by Sideis not written but you get get it by choosing the 1st Guided mode

Guide - resize SCSI1 ....... (*The first option)

This will take the percentage that you'll choose of the emptiest partition on you computer and will install ubuntu on that space with dual boot side to windows.

Good Luck ;)

This is weird , you should have this function: Guided - Resize (Partition).

Ok , if it doesn't exist , we will move to the manual mode of installation. Choose the Manual Mode and click next (As shown in the previous image).

OK , choose the partition where you want to install Ubuntu (I think you are going to use D) , click on it and then click the Edit Partition button , and choose the space you are going to take from that partition , I recommend 10 Gb at least . Do not forget also to choose Ext4 (if you have jaunty) as a file system and choose the mount point as "slash" / (which means root), may be the image doesn't show what I realy said because it is saved under 8.10 , button it will guide you to what I said:

Now click on the created partition and click next.

Good Luck ;)

There is no gparted or partition manager in ubuntu 9.04 so you should use ubuntu 8.10 for installation.
Leave the windows as it is,
create a new partition with ext3 or ext4 as per your choice both will work. this is to be used for installation of OS and atleast use 1 GB of free space separately for swap partition.
now you can go ahead with ubuntu 8.10 installation...
It will make your system in dual boot mode windows and linux
Thanks
