Januty Never Updates Any Software Since I Installed It

Asked by Patricio

Every thing seems to be working ok, but with previous versions I got often updates.
Now I never get any update, when I run the update manager it always says that everything is up to date.
I have had Jaunty for at least a couple of weeks now.
Thanks!!

If it says, the system is up to date, believe it *lll. I guess the information will be correct. Because you don't get an error.

two weeks without updates seems excessive, are other people getting frequent updates?

I had a similar case. No updates for about two weeks. And then I got it again. Be patient.

My options look like that... no luck yet... maybe it just needs time as peter says?

I have the same problem. I am using Ubuntu since Gusty Gibbon and I have never seen so long time without updates. No more than one week. That made me wonder if I have a bug but I have no error message.

I think Jaunty don't find updates since about three weeks ago.

may be updates are not released so fast.....things are improving and depends upon what applications are installed on the system.
these are application updates not virus signature updates which are generally updated regularly.
Thanks

I thing there's a problem. I have the same issue. And now...

# run Update mngr - Your system is up to date - close.
# run Software sources - change the download server from, to say, US.
#click Close - a windows appears telling me "The information about avail software is out-of-date.
#click Reload - downloads a huge ammount of files then the donload window closes and the window of Software sources remains gray and nothig else. Sometimes it disappears after a while.
#run again Update mngr and again - Your system is up to date.

I did this right now and a sveral times yesterday and the day before. The result is the same no matter which download server is picked.
Tried to update by terminal commands and no update. In both cases there are no error messages.
I lost my updates abruptly may be two weeks ago. Before that i had updates EVERY DAY. Now that I see other people having the same issue I thing something is wrong.

BTW, the first time I did this procedure, when I ran a socond time the Update mngr (after playing with change of the server) it told me "yes, you are out-of-date", started downloading and immediately crashed.

It seems updates are back or at least security ones. This morning updated cron but the normal ones and the backport ones are still missing. Even the ones on testing (jaunty-proposed and jaunty-backports on software sources). I think they are on hollidays.

A explanation about Jaunty-proposet, the not tested updates. If you enable that repostory in software sources you probably will find there are updates but they are the same there were when update system stopped. It seems that is frozen. I install these updates two weeks ago and now I have it blank.

Sorry if my English is too bad.

I have tried to update Jaunty using aptitude instead of apt-get and its the same, nothing to update so now I think we don't have any bug. It may be something to do with the server. Holidays or any trouble.
