Upgraded to ubuntu 9.04, Keyboard and mouse is not working to log in

I upgraded from ubuntu 8.04 to ubuntu 9.04 through alternate CD. After restarting the computer my keyboard and mouse are not working, couldn't login. Please suggest me a possible solution for this?

you have to reinstall the OS ubuntu 9.04, same thing happened with me but nothing worked then did re installing which is much easier than waiting for somebody to reply and that may work or may not work,

Thanks for your response. I have read some posts saying this is the bug in
9.04 version, so reinstalling will solve the problem?? i don't think so.
Also i have some important data in my machine.

You are right, No response so I ended up with reinstalling a fresh copy of
ubuntu.

I have the same problem. I have found a temp fix. I found that if I leave my mouse and keyboard unhooked during boot up and then hook them back up after my login screen comes up, I am able to use my keyboard and mouse. This is still very annoying and I have too much data to reinstall ubuntu 9.04.

I installed Ubuntu the mouse will not run after 30 seconds if I use the ad along or if I do full instal. I have tried reinstallinf still no improvement. I can click on the "added information area on the instal screen and the internet comes up and the mouse will work. I can not figure it out
