problem with synaptic manager on 9.04

ok so yesterday it worked but now when i open up synaptic i get this error http://www.flickr.com/photos/38694384@N07/3567727594/ can someone help me figure out what the problem is?

The problem is that you don't have the proper privileges, which is strange as the system should prompt you for your password when you start Synaptic from the menu. I'm not sure how that would happen.

You can try to start Synaptic from a terminal. Open a terminal window (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) and enter this command

gksudo synaptic
