Making a boot pen will the data be lost?

will making my ipod a boot pen take all data on my ipod off it or will i be able to use it as both a ipod and a boot pen?

It depends how it is done, if you simply use something like unetbootin to copy over the files onto your ipod then boot off of it then no, i do not think you will lose all of the data. However, if you format the device in anyway then yes, you probably will lose data. The safe way to go is that yes, in the long run you probably will lose data. I do not recommend doing it if you want to keep the data and have no other backup.
