Hi,
You can try with gparted, it doesn't come by default, so will need to install it (sudo apt-get install gparted), then you can start it from the same console and use it according to their documentation: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/docs/help-manual/C/gparted_manual.html

Hope this help.

I have installed. but i have no primary idea about partion. i want to get more free space in my laptop. So i want to format in easy way by deleting all the files.

Please clarify,
>format my computer
>deleting all the files
>get more free space

Do you like to keep the current installation and resize partitions only?

Do you like to skip the current installation and create new partition size?
Insert LiveCD (includes a partition tool) and restart new.

There is another method though it is more drastic and somewhat more time-consuming.

Go here: < http://www.dban.org/download > and click on: < for DBAN for recent Intel and AMD computers >. You will download an .iso file which you will burn DIRECTLY as a disc (you merely place a blank CD in your internal drive and click on the .iso file. This will start the burning process).

This disk, containing Darik's Boot and Nuke, is left in your CD/DVD drive. You shut down the computer and then restart it. Before anything can mount, go into your BIOS (there should be a instruction for this on your initial splash screen) and set the computer to boot from the disk drive first. (Alternatively your computer may have a method of forcing this; often it is the F8 or F12 key.)

When properly configured, your computer will start up with the DBAN disk appearing. Follow the instructions and type

autonuke

when prompted.

Now understand - this will COMPLETELY "wipe" your hard drive. There will be NOTHING left - not even an operating system. This process will take several hours to complete and CANNOT be reversed.

After the process is finished, open your CD/DVD drive and insert your Ubuntu disk (you DO have one, don't you?).

Then reinstall the operating system. You will now have a completely clean computer and operating system with which you can do as you like.

I hope this is of some use to you. I wish you the best of luck.

Lawrence

P.S. Due to something I did last week (I'm ALWAYS doing "something" to my computer), I effected this process as described this past Sunday. (I wanted to KEEP my files and folders so I backed them up to an external hard drive.) It really is quite easy and doesn't take an inordinate amount of time. I ran DBAN overnight while I was asleep.

Can you help with this problem?
