8.04 live cd: after selecting "install ubuntu" command line appears instead of OS

Asked by tianxiawudi

I have an 8.04 live CD and a computer I just built. When I start up the live CD and select "Install Ubuntu", a command line appears instead of the typical OS.

Hello, tianxiawudi. :-)

I'll need just a little more information, please? What text is on the command line, if any? What is your graphics card? Are you able to try Ubuntu without installing it?

The text is:

udevd-event[1517]: run_program: '/sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit

BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

(initramfs)

I am using the integrated graphics on an Intel DG41RQ desktop board.

When I try to run without installing, the same text and command line shows up.

I assume that this is the only OS that you've tried installing on the computer as of yet?

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=294773&page=2 should fix you. Also, I read that just leaving it sit for several minutes should also work. :-)

I hope I've helped, and I hope I've solved this question for you!
