accidentally deactivated gdm

Asked by guidemeintheeyesofblindness@yahoo.com

I deactivated gdm while trying to remove some stuff I did not need. Now I get a black text screen and cannot get back into my ubuntu desktop to undo the change. It says a bunch of text stuff followed by:

"no resume image during normal boot"

   I'm 8.04 hardy.

How do I get back into my ubuntu deskttop to re-enable gdm?

You can try to boot from a live-cd, chroot your harddisk and undo the change you did.

You could try this:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall gdm

Sorry.
To be more precised:
* Start your computer
* It should ask for "login:", type your login.
* Then it should ask your password. Type it.
* Then type the command below:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall gdm
