My appearance settings in ubuntu 9.04 cannot be set to extra, it says graphic drivers are missing, how do i get the drivers?

I have installed ubuntu 9.04 and when I tried to set the desktop effects to extra from, it says graphic drivers are missing, how do i get these drivers. My laptop has an intel 845 express chipset family. Please help me.

Hi,

It looks very similar to the known bug #355258. In clear, Ubuntu 9.04 cannot deal with graphic acceleration with intel 845 chipsets. It is likely to be fixed in the future, maybe for Ubunty 9.10?

I had the same problem when I got Jaunty.
I edited /usr/bin/compiz file. I replaced T = “$ T 8086:2 a02″ # Intel GM965 with #T = “$ T 8086:2 a02″ # Intel GM965 and my extra visual effects worked again.
Do you have such a line in your file?
