no hay volumen en mi laptop inspiron 1420 en la actualizacion de ubuntu 8.01 a 9.04
lo que pasa es que actualize l version de 8.0.1 a 9.0.4 pero el problema es que el volumen no se oye casi nada en absoluto,,,,,,,le pongo el el volumen maximo al 100% y parece un volumen del 5%,,,,,,,,,cuando me debe de estar aturdiendo los tinpanos (es un decir),,,,tengo una laptop inspiron 1420

Atiende a los controles de volumen. Además del control de volumen maestro puede que tengas que subir el "PCM" o el "Altavoz del equipo", depende un poco del driver.

Ese es el script. Pero debes guardarlo y ejecutarlo, no pegárnoslo aquí. Haz clic derecho sobre la dirección que te he dado, haz clic en "Guardar cómo..." y entonces desde una consola dale permisos de ejecución y ejecútalo

dime que tipo de tarjeta de sonido tienes, otra cosa que te recomiendo es siempre tener el directorio raiz separado del home, ya que luego cuando sale una nueva version de ubuntu la reinstalas y solo formateas el directorio raiz, esto para tener limpio tu sistema y sin ningun tipo de problema

No, era para ver la información de tu tarjeta y poder ayudarte mejor.
Los canales de volumen que encontrarás en tu tarjeta vienen ahí. Veo tres interesantes: Master, PCM y Front. Los tienes al 100%, 61% y 79% respectivamente. Deberías subir el PCM y el Front hasta cerca del 90%.
Si no encuentras los canales con el control de volumen de Gnome (clic en el altavoz del panel de Gnome -> control de volumen...) puede que estén escondidos. Pulsa en Preferencias y asegúrate de que están marcados, y que te encuentras en la pestaña de reproducción.
Si no te aclaras o si no consigues nada, puedes intentarlo con la aplicación de terminal alsamixer, que es parecida pero en modo texto. Una vez dentro pulsa H para ver la ayuda y saber las teclas (no funciona con ratón).
