How to install new edition

How can i install the new ubuntu 9.04 over ubuntu 8.04. Can it possible.
I think a upgrade is possible like Windows XP to VISTA.
Please help me to do this .

If you're online, you could do:

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

That would upgrade your current 8.04 to 9.04 version.

I have a 9.04 Desktop Edition CD.I want to know how to upgrade from this CD.

I got no result by using the command from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/IntrepidUpgrades. Can i directly upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04 from Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.
How to do this or tell me how i can use the new Edition(9.04). I have a 9.04 CD from cd how can upgrade insted of iso file.

No, you can't directly upgrade fron 8.04 to 9.04.
Right way is 8.04 > 8.10 > 9.04

Otherwise you can create a backup of your data save that and then reinstall OS from CD.

But Ian Ace Culallad said it can be possible to upgrade from 8.04 to 9.04 in online .

Like wise can i upgrade using CD?

      You can only directly upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04 from Ubuntu 8.10

so I don't think you can upgrade directly to 9.04 from 8.04!
