how to enable pop-ups

I cannot access IM's on jdate dating site. It just won't connect. Someone suggested checking to see that I have pop-ups enabled, but I cannot find that.

If you're using Firefox as you web browser, click on "Edit" menu - select "Preferences" and click on the "Content" tab. Uncheck the option which reads "Block pop-up windows".

I took Ubuntu off my computer - there were just too many places I use that it was not compatible with.
