playing videos

Asked by hugo

I can't play the videos of the internet and when I try to install the restricted programs I am informed that they can't be installed because there are conflicting programs. I should go to the synaptic progamsupport and address the problem. There is however no mentioning of what these conflicting programs should be. How do I solve this?

Hi hugo,

Uhmm.. was it tell you about broken packages? Just open Synaptic Package Manager then choose status, you will see "Broken" status. Try to re-install or remove the package. Hopefully that will help you.

Cheers..

It was not about a broken package but a conflicting one. I just don't know which package would conflict with the restricted programs. So for now I am unable to install flash player and therefore I can't play videos straight from the Internet

I'm really sorry hugo.. I didn't read carefully of your question before. Uhmm.. about your flashplayer, perhaps you can read this article:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/Flash

It will tell you how to install Flash Player so you can watch videos from the internet.
Cheers..
