The desktop resolution..

Asked by LloydLMiller

I was fine with my ubuntu 8.4 install, everything was cool except the default resolution was too high, made everything to small and im old and damn near blind. I found the place to change resolution, when i changed it to 1024x768 or whatever the screen went beserk, cant see nothing, just lines, i restarted and still all iget is lines. I cannot get to the desktop to change it back. I have an ati raedon 7500 on a shuttle X machine, my monitor is an older one but excellent it's a dell monitor that on windows handled all resolutions.

Hello,
Generally, you should be OK with the default drivers. Why do you need the Radeon 7500 driver? Isn't the problem with the resolution solved?

It is just that it only comes on in "low graphics mode" and I still have the resolution problem. If I try to change to a lower resolution so that I may see it, then it did the whole black lines-had to start over thing
