Ubuntu & notebooks

Is ubuntu suitable 4 notebooks,is there any problem by using ubuntu in notebooks.One of my friend said ubuntu can cause harm to Laptops harddisk.Is it true?

Hi sabaressh,

Try to boot from LiveCD first. You don't have to install it on your notebook, you just try it to boot from LiveCD. About the rumor that Ubuntu can harm your notebook's harddisk, hmmm... I don't think so. I'm using Ubuntu for 4 years.

Try it, then give it a comment when you using it. Cheers...

plz lucky winarto if u r using ubunto plz help me i got free cd from there i m 4rm pakistan i installed it first time but when i installed it i asked me user name and password i dont know both plz tell me what is user name and pass my email is <email address hidden> plz email me both

Yes umair. I'm using ubuntu. But, I'm never had a problem like that. And usually LiveCD from Canonical doesn't require a password to use it. Perhaps your LiveCD is broken or have scratch on it. Try to use another one or you can download an alternate.
