Either you have an older video card that doesn't support the game or something else, could you post whatever display when you issue the terminal command below:

lspci | grep VGA

I am using the same video card. It does not function fully with Jaunty. I have been waiting for a fix from the updates, but so far nothing. Maybe there will be no fix. There does not appear to be any urgency to do it. This site explains things and proposes a workaround that might work: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1130582. I haven't tried it. If you do, please let me know how it goes.

Can you help with this problem?
