mount usb by label problem

Asked by daveW

Since upgrading to KDE3.5.2 my USB storage devices are mounting by device block rather than label in /media (i.e. /meda/sdb1/ not /media/LACIE/). That makes it all a bit inconsitent and hard to use. There's a thread in the wiki on this at:
http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=4422.msg17909#msg17909

It seems that I can mount them manually with pmount but if I use the 'mount' option from 'right-click' menu, or allow them to mount from KDE-deamon menu they go by block name instead.

Any ideas how I get this functionality back please?

Dave

Hello,

I am not an expert at KDE, I used once. As far as I know KDE should recognize your usb and other media automatically. In my opinion just try to look at some install problems. That should be the problem.

I don't know how to fix your problem, but I would look in bug databases for problems between KDE and either 'hal' or 'udev'...

Can you help with this problem?
