[xubuntu] Strange problem with USR5410 wireless card

Hello.

I've just installed Xubuntu 8.10 in an old laptop, and I have a strange problem with my US Robotics USR5410 Wireless Card. When I plug it, Xubuntu correctly recognizes it, i.e. the red light turns on and it starts to find wifi networks. But after some seconds, the computer gets completely locked and has to be rebooted pushing the button.

Can anybody help me?

PS: the card works perfectly under Puppy Linux.

This looks similar to the bug #157310. No fix proposed there, unfortunately.
