gnome desktop still crashing periodically

Asked by Cynthia Coleman

My Dell desktop continues to crash periodically. I tried changing video drivers, it happens with both proprietary and non proprietary drivers. I am guessing it is gnome but nor sure. It sometimes occurs within the first minute that I go out of sleep mode but other times it is much later in an active session. I had disabled all gnome extensions. I have changed power settings but nothing seems to work. My wireless keyboard is unresponsive after the event so I can't get to a command window. I look for crash reports but don't see one for the one that happened 2 days ago except for a google chrome one. Also this has been an issue ever since I purchased this desktop a couple of years ago and installed Ubuntu. Any suggestions on how to further diagnose this issue? Are there other logs I should check?
