How to turn off Ad Blocker on 23.10

Asked by Ricardo Diamondo

Recently I find that I cannot stream video from some TV channels on UK Freeview. A notice comes up saying I should turn off my Ad Blocker which I didn't know I have. Please can someone tell me how to turn it off?
Thanks

On your Firefox, open a web page.
On the top right of the screen click the 3 horizontal bars [application menu]
Click on Settings -> Click on Privacy & Security tab ->
Scroll down to Permissions - Un-checkmark the [Block pop-up windows] Box
That is where Firefox's pop-up blocker is at.

Hi Bernard, thanks for your reply.
I have unticked the "Block pop-up windows" box and also the "Warn when web sites try to install add-ons" box.
On the Enhanced Tracking Protection I have gone from Strict to Standard protection.
After doing each of these, I closed Firefox and then re-opened it and tried to watch catch-up TV again.
I still get the messages saying I should turn my Ad Blocker off!
So it seems that un-ticking the Block pop-up windows box has had no effect, as with the other things I did as mentioned above.
Help still needed please.

Settings -> General tab -> Scroll down to Digital Rights Management (DRM) Content
Check mark box so it is on.

Thanks Bernard, it still doesn't work.
But it seems my problem is with Firefox rather than Ubuntu. I will try to take my problem up with them.....
This all started when the TV stations concerned started an Ad Free service, so something has changed on their websites and Firefox has nor kept up with them. I don't mind ads too much but just can't stream anything apart from live TV.
Thanks again for all your help.
Richard

I took my problem up with Channel 4, mainly because I started to experience problems with their streaming service after they introduced a fee paying service to stop ads on their site. They asked me to try the things I already tried, then asked what my OS was. After I told them I got the following reply:

Dear Richard,
Thank you for your reply.
We must advise that Linux is not a supported operating system with the Channel 4 Streaming service and this is why you will be experiencing some issues with the service.
We apologise for any disappointment that this may cause.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding streaming on Channel 4.
Kind regards,
David Bremner

So it seems I cannot watch their streaming service because I am on a Linux operating system. Bad on Channel 4.
