Ripping Flash Video

Asked by jetbundle

Hi,

One of my most favourite video sites (http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/content/9602?inPopup=true) switched from WMV to the newest Adobe Flash, that can be watched only with the original Flash player - the open source swf flash plugin that I had before doesn't play it.

So I need a new way to rip the videos for whatever legal purposes (like I want to watch them in the period when they're available online, but on top of a mountain where there's no internet ;) ).

Does anyone know how to rip the newest "secure" flash streams? I couldn't extract any .flv video, and the firefox extensions that work for Youtube don't work. In my /tmp, I find only startscreen.swf and player.swf, which are apparently some players, but no cached video data.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this? Your help is very appreciated.
Thanks!
