Touchpad Settings in Wayland/Mint

Asked by Michael Bechtold

I'm running Linux Mint 21/Vanessa with the MATE desktop on a Dell E6410 laptop. It uses the Alps PS/2 DualPoint touchpad, but I've had this problem with other machines. I need to reduce the sensitivity and acceleration on the touchpad, but the built in touchpad client is already set to the minimums. I would like to try a flat acceleration profile, but things are different in Wayland than X11. Is there a way to edit the Synaptics or other driver file in Wayland? Or does Vanessa still use X11? Thanks in advance.
