Has MAKEDEV been (re)moved from /dev?

Asked by Jon Ward

When I tried to install irda-utils on my laptop (Thinkpad x32 running 9.04) the post-install script failed on line 184:

cd /dev && ./MAKEDEV irda && ./MAKEDEV irnet

It also complains about the lack of update-modules (on line 92) which I think has been depreciated, I guess these are related but I thought it better to look to someone with greater knowledge before filing a non-existent bug.

Cheers
Jon

This is a known bug in irda-utils (see bug 340718) and several other packages. MAKEDEV has indeed been removed, and developers are working on patching affected packages.

Much thanks, I looked to see if I could find a related bug but wasn't really sure where to look. Thank you for slightly alleviating my ignorance.
