UBUNTU 22.04 No analog sound from the front panel audio jack

UBUNTU 22.04 No analog sound from the front panel audio jack?

When I installed Ubuntu 22.04 I got “Dummy Output” in Settings > Sound > Output Device on my NEOSMAY AC-8 computer which has an 11 generation Pentium Silver N6005 SoC processor. Front panel audio worked properly in Windows 11. I edited the alsa configuration file (sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf) and added the line (options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0) and it gave me HDMI sound through my monitor in Ubuntu 22.04. I never got sound from the front panel audio jack (built in audio) in Ubuntu. This is only important if you have a VGA monitor (like my stepson). I found a solution. It is a HDMI To VGA adapter with audio output that I bought on TEMU for $3.48. It took a couple of weeks to get here from China but it comes with a short stereo audio cable. Since I was able to get HDMI audio working in Ubuntu, I figured the adapter would solve the issue. You just plug the adapter into your VGA monitor and plug the HDMI cable from your computer into the adapter. Plug your speakers into the Audio Output port on the adapter and you have both VGA video and sound from the HDMI port.

Thank you for sharing your experience and solution for the Ubuntu 22.04 sound issue. The HDMI to VGA adapter with audio output seems like a practical workaround to get both video and sound on a VGA monitor. Your detailed explanation and providing the link to the adapter will be helpful for others facing a similar problem. It's great to see the community coming up with creative solutions.
