cant update

update all or update even any one update kicks back with the following message

Open a terminal window (e.g. by simultaneously pressing ctrl-alt-t) and issue the command

sudo dpkg --configure -a

Enter your password when asked for it (to confirm an administrative action).

thank you so much, this solved my problem. im new to ubuntu, relied on windows for years. Much happier with Ubuntu but not yet familiar.
