files won't open to recipients

Asked by Karolina

I can open all the files that are located on my computer. However, if I try to send files via email or put them into google drive, suddenly they won't open from there neither for me, nor for the recipients. Yet, sometimes they do open, if they are text documents, then there is a higher chance of opening them (would say that sometimes they open), but .jpg or .png files don't open at all. They won't open for both linux and windows users.
At first I thought there must be some kind of malware or spyware, so I bought a brand new laptop, and installed the updated version of the os but the new one does the same.
This has been going on for a couple of months, please help :'(

To change file permissions.
Hover over the file in question, left click and select properties,
Click the permissions tab.
1st will be the owner of the file and their access ie. Read & Write
The drop-down box you can select the applicable access needed for the file.
Choices are Read & Wright - Read only - Wright only - None

All files on Linux are based on Permissions categorized as Owner, Group, Others.

Thank you Bernard for this suggestion, I will keep this in mind! Unfortunately, this didn't help in the current situation.
However, I found another simple answer that solved my problem - I added the format type at the end of a file's name (.jpeg or .pdf, etc.) and now it opens from anywhere and for anyone, yay!
Somehow I didn't think about it, assuming the system would automatically pick up on the needed format lol
Cheers!
