Why don't you use a more up-to-date Ubuntu release?
There is only limited support for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (in ESM status, already for two years), see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

If that driver is not contained in the current kernel version for Ubuntu 16.04, then it will most probably never be added.
Are you sure that you need a separate driver, maybe that device is supported by the standard kernel (eventually only in the kernels for newer Ubuntu releases).

I assume that the driver is part of the kernel packages.

It might be possible to install the kernel packages for a later Ubuntu release on your 16.04 system, but there is no support for such action.

You have to try that within your own responsibility.

Can you help with this problem?
