how do I install boot-info-script in 22.04?

Asked by tadiv

It seems silly, but when I enter 'sudo apt install boot-info-script', I'm told 'E: Unable to locate package... ' and I have seen the package name on my old machine... Uggh this is so frustrating....

The package boot-info-script is in the universe repository.
You need to enable the universe repository.
see also https://packages.ubuntu.com/jammy/boot-info-script

How do I enable the universe repository? Instructions to do so don't seem to be at the link https://packages.ubuntu.com/jammy/boot-info-script

Citing the packages server was not meant to be a link to an instruction how to add, but as reference that the package is in the universe repository.

How to enable "universe":
sudo add-apt-repository -c universe
see https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/jammy/en/man1/add-apt-repository.1.html

... run the command
/usr/sbin/bootinfoscript

Or, perhaps even more comfortable, don't use boot-info-script, but the info part of boot-repair, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair
