Try starting the boot process and immediately hit the left shift key.
Can you reach the grub menu and then select an older kernel or advanced mode - command prompt?

ununtu starts from a virtual box. pressing left shift key is ignored.
I can see log from VB menu but it is over 2000 lines.
Please suggest searching pattern so I can copy proper fragment from this log.

I do not understand why the left shift key would be ignored if you run Ubuntu in a virtualbox.
Do not just press it once, but hit it several times as soon as you see the "virtualbox starting"

hitting left shift key causes "sticky keys"
Staring Ubunto20.04 from VB I can see suspect message

 [ 1.590082] ata3.00: Read log 9x99 page 0x00 failed, Emask 0x1
....

1. You have to find the right timing for the shift key

2. The message "[ 1.590082] ata3.00: Read log 9x99 page 0x00 failed, Emask 0x1" indicates a problem with accessing one of the hard disks.

3. If you create a new virtual machine with an Ubuntu installer, does that work?

I have Ubuntu installed on external on three computers PC Windows 10 and two laptops' windows 11
All have exact the same version ubunu 20.04. Exactl the same error on all three computers???? I can't believe it is disk problem.
With all previous upgrades there was no problem .

Now I am a bit lost.
Did the problem occur after the upgrade from a previous Ubuntu release that was already installed in a virtual machine, or does this problem show up after when doing a new installation?
