Kinetic arm64 VM fails to display console after update

A VM of 22.10 Kinetic arm64 running on VMware Fusion on Apple fails to display anything on the console after applying updates that installed linux-image-5.19.0-31-generic (5.19.0-31.32 arm64). The VM is up and running because I can ssh into it.

Mainline kernels and 5.19.0-29 work fine. Whatever was done to 5.19.0-31 and later has essentially broken my VM.

What's the best way to report a bug on this? It's grinding any work I have to do to a halt. I've submitted what I think to be a Launchpad bug on it, but nobody appears to be looking at it.

the bug will be attended in due course. If you can keep logs from the failed boot then this will help investigate
