Ubuntu Pro "Active Machines" Issue

Asked by Juan Manuel Ramirez

I have the free Ubuntu Pro account, that one that allows to activate up to 5 machines for personal use.
I only had one machine activated.
I had to re-install the OS on the computer. After that I reactivated Ubuntu Pro on it.
The account on online portal now states that I have 2 computers activated.

Which is not the case, this is the same computer.....I was just re-activating the service on it after re-installing the OS.

I then detached the machine from the service, which was done successfully. However, that didn't fix anything. My account on online portal keeps stating that I have activated 2 machines.

I tried their support portal and chat, they said they can't do anything for me because I'm not using the paid version of the service.

Is there a way to make the system on online portal to show 0 machines activated?. It says 2, but I now have no computer attached to the service!!

"Technically, you can detach a subscription, same way you attach it. simply use ‘sudo pro detach’ command.

That said, it’s possible that you’d get rid of a VM without detaching a subscription. Then, you might struggle to find a way to detach it.

This is why we don’t prevent you from attaching more machines than the number of entitlements you have (either free or paid). Instead, we monitor how many active machines you have at any given moment. In other words, you should ensure that the number of active machines does not go over the limit."

I activated Ubuntu Pro today, free version, and it also registers two machines instead of one. I didn't activate and re-activate. The "Active machines" link on the site is labeled "beta".

Can you help with this problem?
