Yes it's possible
One of my friends gave a talk on how to use wine and he installed MS office 2007 and winamp on ubuntu 8.10 to show people how to use wine.

it still does not work. This is confirmed by my own experience. Perhaps Rached Aleya can provide the directions his friend used. Every attempt I have seen to get this working uses files from CrossOver products to get it working. I can confirm that it will work if using CrossOver. For instance, these directions do work:
