Cheking the installation... when running 1st time

Asked by Ismail Rachid

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 as a Windows program (from inside Windows) in a separate partition of the HD on an Asus laptop F5R with intel celeron M.
When running Ubuntu for the 1st time and after checking the installation, at the stage of:
"Installing system
0%
Formatting swap space in partition#1 of /host/ubuntu/disk..."
the system stops and does not continue the installation.
Thanks in advance for your help in this issue,
Ismail Rachid

Please install Ubuntu properly. Installing it inside Windows means it has to rely on Windows systems working properly but this way, from the links, makes a much mor robust and flexible system, well worth the little extra effort

Good luck and regards from

From https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide I got: “If the installation fails while formatting the swap virtual disk it means that your drive is excessively fragmented. Uninstall, run jkdefrag on the target drive, then run wubi again.”

Can you help with this problem?
