Desktop won't open after using 5.15.0-53-generic ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS

Asked by Cord Hantke

I use ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS with AMD Ryzen 3 2200G with Radeon Vega on my desktop PC.
Since this morning, using kernel 5.15.0-53-generic, I receive a black monitor when booting the system.
(Kernel 5.15.0-52-generic used to work and still works fine.)
Does anyone know what to do?

Is this just while the Ubuntu is booting?
Could you open a terminal:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
just to see it it corrects the problem.
Does your system use Nvidia?

Under kernel 5.15.0-53-generic I am not able to open a terminal.
When I start the computer, it starts to boot the system. You can see that it checks the harddrive. And when it is to switch to the Ubuntu desktop where you have to fill in your username and password, it switches to a black monitor, and the monitor then says it does not receive any signal.

Under kernel 5.15.0-52-generic, everything works out fine: I could open the terminal, and I could use sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade without a problem. After having run these processes, the problems under kernel 5.15.0-53-generic still persisted.

The graphic system is not Nvidia as the AMD Ryzen 3 2200 G comes along with Radeon Vega GPU.
