After upgrading to kinetic, files selected in nautilus are replayed in reverse order in vlc

Asked by Alfonso Cepeda

In Jammy, when you select several files in nautilus and press in open with vlc, vlc replay them in the same order than it were in the nautilus list, that means, if you have them sorted by name, it reproduce them alphabetically.

After upgrading to kinetic, it behaves just the opposite, it reproduces from the back of the nautilus list to the first one.

I have checked and in command line, vlc maintains the same order than the files included in the order, therefore, it seems like nautilus is sending the list to vlc in reversed order of the files selected.

Why has this behavior changed? Is there any configuration variable to be changed to maintain the previous file order to be sent to a program?

Thank you.

I suggest you report a bug. You can do this with:

ubuntu-bug vlc

This will start off the process

I think that if a bug should be reported, it should be to nautilus, not vlc.

I have tried with text editor, and it behaves in the same way. It open the documents in a reverse order.

But my feeling is that it may be not a bug, but a feature, something that it is configured somehow.

Then report it with nautilus

Can you help with this problem?
