Codec: IDT 92HD71B7X - Mixer: Generic 10de ID 6 - STAC92xx Analog sound codec - not working on HP HDX18-1080EG laptop in Ubuntu 9.04

Asked by Diego

I have no sound on ubuntu 9.04, on a laptop hp hdx 18.

I had Ubuntu 8.10 on the same machine and the sound worked perfectly fine, but after I made the upgrade, it doesn't work at all. I have tried lots of suggestions from this forum and none worked. I have upgraded to pulseaudio 0.9.15, but doesn't work also.

My alsa info is http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=ebe83002641f4e204bb21215f6d5a7210184088c

If helps, when I open pavucontrol, and when I play sounds, I see the vumeter changing (as the music plays)

I also have checked if anything was on mute.

What can I do?

Best Regards,

Diego

Hi,

Please try tankdriver's solution here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/332479

"
@slaged:
have you tried to add the following line in your "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf" :

options snd-hda-intel model=hp-m4

(the comment I made above was wrong)
This made my soundoutput work.
