How to report possible bug with amdgpu in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

Asked by Carl Tuxe

I've noticed since upgrading my Ubuntu release to 22.04 LTS that my graphics card (AMD RX 480) fan goes to maximum RPM every time temperature goes above 50 degrees C, ignoring the graphics card's default fan curve as well as any custom fan curve set by the Corectrl app. It is quite unusual behaviour.

Any suggestions on A) how to debug this B) which modules to report bug under

Thanks

Only answering B:

The graphics driver package is part of the Linux kernel. I do not know whether this is also true for the fan control, but in any case I would expect that "linux in Ubuntu" is a candidate for the bug target.

In any case you should be aware that you better use the ubuntu-bug program on your system to report the bug. Only if that is not possible, then manually creating a bug report on bugs.launchpad.net is also an option.
