Does global autocorrect exist in Ubuntu ?

Asked by Stéphane V

We are all used to type on a smartphone, which auto correct every misspelled word, propose the next word in the sentence, propose emoji, add accentuated characters, etc...

But where is this famous auto correction / fast typing helper in Ubuntu ? I can't find it and I propose to start a new implementation at operating system level...

The ideal solution would include :

Global auto correction of any typed word in Ubuntu (all applications, as Gboard does)
Automatic replace of missing accentuated character in words (e.g. in french : tete -> tête)
Self learning dictionary, per language, synchronized world-wide (including new words, local idioms and user added words since added by different user more than X times)
Add personal words in dictionary (as last names or family nicknames)
Configuration parameter from "gentle" to "aggressive" auto correction
