Does the system have a make and model?
Which release of Ubuntu?
Does it affect all users (Make a new user and test if required)?
If you boot an older kernel, is it OK?

Is it the same if you make a fresh Ubuntu user? You can press CTRL + ALT + F1, log in there and make a user I command line. Then at the login page select the new user.

If you install the lxde package:

   sudo apt -y install lxde

then use that instead of your default session, is it the same?

If you use an external monitor, is it the same there?
