Ubuntu 22.04.1 will not load desktop

originally had the mtd device name must be provided errors but was working through them. received updates to 22.4.1 and system restarted. was then greeted with a username and password prompt and desktop does not load.

$ sudo systemctl isolate graphical takes me back to the username prompt.

I move to Linux Mint and everything is working, i know it's still Ubuntu but i who knows..
