How do you get IL-2 to install on ubuntu

Asked by flyby1

I have installed ubuntu 9.04 and wine ,under applications I get that wine sees C drive and I have found a faq that said to change it to a different drive (it said to type in some command to change drive , but I can not find where to type it in) my old drive that I put 9.04 on was K do I need to change wine to K? I also have IL-2 4.09 on a PNY 8m usb and it will not install either . The ubuntu seed both cd and pny and gives me an icon which I can open , but can not install from either.
I have vista 64 quad hd 4850 8mb mem 2 hard drives on drive C and after I get ubuntu to install IL-2 and working I will never use vista again (4 years of fixing to keep in running). Do I now clear off C drive so wine can use it to install IL-2?

I am sorry guys , but I have little knowledge as how to change ubuntu and wine to work as I use a pc to play games and now to make programs (used to make games in basic, see I am old). Hope this is enough info .

thanks ; flyby1 <email address hidden>

Hi,

When you say "IL-2", do you mean http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IL-2_Sturmovik_(game) ?

The Wine folks have a database listing program compatibility here: http://appdb.winehq.org/
It looks like this game is running mostly correctly: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1838

I'm not sure what you mean about changing from drive C: to drive K: -- I think that you should be able to install this game to drive C:. Here's a link to the FAQ about how to install Windows programs under Wine: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-312130506d4585c973df1d88538b11945193c41d

Can you help with this problem?
