which to download for 32bit

Asked by Redneck

I have the 32 bit athlon. But trying to figure out which one i need. The mirror sites say its the i386 desktop and the bit torrent say the i386 alternate. A bit confusing off of the Ubuntu site. Be greatly appreciated to know if there is a difference and how i should go about it. Every one here who helps does a great job on informing people. keep up the good work.
With the bit torrent download witch do I need. The alternate i386 or the Desktop i386?

You might as well download this:

http://releases.ubuntu.com/jaunty/ubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso

Use the Alternate version if you have at least 256MB of physical RAM.

i have 3ghz of ram. I started downloading the desktop i386. Also my computer came with the hard drive partitioned do i need to partition it again? Sorry for so many questions.

I wanted to make sure that i was downloading the right one. And was not sure if i had to partition again since it came that way.

You have the option of re-partitioning your hard drive if you don't have any important data on it. Or, you could use 1 of the 2 partitions to install your Ubuntu OS making the other unused partition available for saving data.

Ian
