Navigating in the home folder has become slower.

Asked by Andrea

Hi,

after i put my password i got an error, which I unfortunately ignored.

Now it seems that navigating my file is slower than before.

I'm sorry I can't point out the error, but can someone give me their opinion on how to solve it?

If you log out and log in again or reboot the system and log in, do you see the error message again?

If you open a terminal window (e.g. by simultaneously pressing ctrl-alt-t), what output do you receive for the commands

uname -a
lsb_release -crid
ls -l /var/crash

?

when I log in or reboot i I have no messages.

The output for the commands you suggested:

- The first I suppose is my username -a but it doesn't seem to do anything.

- Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS
Release: 20.04
Codename: focal

- totale 0.

If the error message does not re-appear, then it is hardly possible to find out what was wrong.
What exactly do you feel being slower now when navigating the home folder?

Every folder in the home loads a little before i can enter ( about one second).
In the past after the double click there was no loading.

Have you tested your RAM health? This will be a good first step

Hi, actionparsnip,

you see, I have ubuntu and windows dual boot. In ubuntu the home folder has the problem i said in this question, but my hd and the windows partition don't present the problem. So if I am to navigate (in Ubuntu) the home folder, the pc is slower, but on the windows partition and my hd everything is fine.

Windows on the other hand is perfect, no slow folders or anything.

That said, should I check the ram all the same?
