gnome-screensaver 20.04 Screensaver stopped triggering on idle

recent upgrades have caused the screen saver to no longer trigger when computer is idle. This is a system 76 laptop running Ubuntu Mate 20.04. Blank screen is the preferred screensaver; although none of the screen savers trigger when idle now.

If you reconfigure the screensaver, does it help. Change the screensaver used....does that help?

No combination of configurations to gnome-screensaver was able to resolve this issue.
Found that light-locker works correctly and is now in use.
