Ubuntu 22.04 fails to boot if not using recovery mode

Asked by Kurt Miller

Asus Expertbook B9450fa
Kernel:5.15.0-30-generic
cpu:Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz
Video:Intel - CometLake-U GT2 [UHD Graphics]

I'm running Xorg, not Wayland

If I choose a straight Ubuntu boot, the machine freezes, however, recovery mode reaches a login.
journalctl shows many ACPI errors.
This is obviously sub-optimal.

My current grub config:

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu
GRUB_TIMEOUT=10
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian`
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="acpi=off"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
GRUB_GFXMODE=1920x1080
GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false

How may I get assistance in analyzing a boot problem?

hey Kurt Miller -

For ACPI issues try changing the DSDT
