What kind of printer is compatable with ubuntu?

I need to know what kind of printer I can use with the ubuntu system. I have a pile of files on the word program which I need to print off. Any help?

If your printer is not too old it must be recognized and connected automatically. But you may have only main printing functions.

If your printer is too old or rare you may receive only text mode printing (line printing).

Try to connect printer and find printer control program inside ubuntu.

I noticed a very nice support for HP Printers, I own a multifunction C6280, and it's working great.

All modern HP printers and multifunction units work in Ubuntu out of the box. The drivers are included in the kernel.
